WHAT IS INVISALIGN?

Invisalign is an alternative to braces. Instead of using the metal brackets, wires and rubber bands of traditional braces, it uses a retainer-like set of clear aligners to slowly shift the teeth into a straightened, more esthetically-pleasing position.

Because Invisalign is removable and can be worn without other people knowing that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment, it is very popular with patients who wish to avoid the unfortunate stigma of adult braces. It's also perfect for patients who have had braces, but whose teeth have eventually moved out of position.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

Invisalign treatment is simple. After Dr. Sutton determines that Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment for you, he will take comprehensive images, molds, and measurements of your mouth, and begin developing a treatment plan that is tailored to you.

This information is used to manufacture your custom aligners. When they're sent back to Dr. Sutton, our team gives you a call so you can come pick them up and begin treatment.

You wear your aligners for about 22 hours each day. They should be removed only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. They can also be removed if you play contact sports. Every two weeks (or as directed by Dr. Sutton), you will switch to the next set of aligners. You will also have a regular appointment every six weeks so that the doctor can track your progress.

The average treatment requires about 20-24 sets of aligners, making most Invisalign treatment plans last about a year. However, this may vary depending on the needs of each individual patient.
